Quilting Stories of Healing

with Sisters Unchained

Sisters Unchained (SU) collaborated with artist Kimberly Love Radcliffe, who developed and facilitated a two-week quilting workshop for the daughters of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated parents. In alignment with the “legacy” theme of SU’s 2024 summer Transformative Leadership Program, the young women created individual quilted keepsakes honoring loved ones who have supported their healing and contributed squares to create a group quilt. The group quilt was exhibited in the “Aiming for Freedom: Race, Reparations, and Rights Paths” exhibition, organized by SAEDi Collective and held at Wellesley College. Radcliffe, SU staff, and youth participants spoke about their quilting experiences as part of the “Art of Freedom” series hosted by SAEDi and the ACC and held at Wellesley and Families for Justice as Healing.
