with New Beginnings Reentry Services

New Beginnings Reentry Services (NBRS) collaborated with artist Marla L. McLeod, who delivered a custom healing arts course for women at NBRS. In coordination with NBRS Founder, Stacey Borden, McLeod developed a course that emphasized art as a method for healing trauma and accommodated the needs and interests of women recently released from prison. Anthony Peyton Young joined as a guest artist at some sessions. Art from the course was exhibited in NBRS’s  “Breaking Barriers” exhibition, held at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building in the heart of Roxbury's Nubian Square. Borden, McLeod, and Young presented at the “Art of Freedom” series hosted by SAEDi and the ACC and held at Wellesley.
